Write for the ELEVATE Blog!

Are you interested in climate change, the energy transition, social equity, and related topics? Do you want to sharpen your science communication and public engagement skills? The NSF-funded ELEVATE Program at UMass is soliciting articles for its blog. The ELEVATE Blog seeks to provide students and faculty with an informal platform to publish writing about energy- and equity-related topics.

Potential blog topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Summaries of your research crafted for a general audience

  • Reviews of new energy/equity/climate-related books or research papers

  • Opinion pieces on energy policy or energy-related current events

  • Reports on conferences, seminars, or other energy- and equity-related activities

Benefits to you include:

  • Honing your science communication skills

  • Synthesizing your opinions on energy-related issues

  • Publicizing your research

  • Advocating for a just and equitable energy transition

  • Adding to your writing portfolio and your CV!

Blog posts should be about 500-1,000 words and the ELEVATE communications team will be available to help you with planning, revising, and editing. Pitches are accepted on a rolling basis. We welcome posts from faculty, students (graduate and undergraduate), and community members.

Send your pitch (a summary of the article in a few sentences) to elevate-social@umass.edu!
